Dream Skye job with free accommodation for those looking to escape rat race

A unique opportunity to live and work on the beautiful Isle of Skye has become available.

The Duisdale House Hotel is currently seeking a food and beverage assistant to join its team, with staff accommodation available for the successful applicant. Situated on Skye’s spectacular Sleat peninsula, the award-winning hotel is housed within a former Victorian mansion.




With views out over the Sound of Sleat and towards the Scottish mainland, the Duisdale House Hotel is perfectly situated for those keen to escape the rat race and live a quieter life. Found near the coastal village of Isleornsay, its location is the perfect mix of rural and convenient.

In terms of things to see an do in the area, highlights include the incredible ruins of Dunscaith Castle, the historic Kilmore Church, and the Torabhaig Distillery. The latter offers tours and whisky tastings, and is also home to a shop and a café.

Meanwhile, for those times when you are craving just a little bit of hustle and bustle, Skye’s main settlement of Portree is around just 40 minutes away by car. From independent shops and galleries to pubs and award-winning restaurants, it has everything you could need.

As well as live-in accommodation and tranquil surroundings, benefits of the position at the hotel include a 50 per cent discount on food and additional holiday allowance for your birthday. The successful applicant will also benefit from staff rates across the hotel’s sister locations, as well as access to “a wealth of informational tools and support across many areas including financial wellbeing, mental health, exercise, and healthy eating”.

The job itself will be on a fixed-term contract lasting until October 31, making it ideal for Scots looking for a summer job. The salary is £12 per hour and while experience in a similar role is “preferred”, it is not required.
