The ‘lovely’ Scottish riverside hotel spa you can stay in for under £100 for two

A “lovely” hotel nestled along the banks of a peaceful Scottish river can currently be booked for less than £100 for two.

With June finally in sight, time is officially running out to plan a break. As the busy holiday season begins, it will become harder and harder to land a bargain staycation.

Thankfully, there are still plenty of low-cost options available if you know where to look. One of these is the idyllic Angus Hotel and Spa by the River Ericht in Blairgowrie. At the moment, an overnight stay for two at the hotel can be booked for £99 through voucher website Wowcher — a 39 per cent discount off the standard price of £161.50.

The Angus Hotel and Spa’s rooms feature huge windows that offer stunning views out over Blairgowrie’s centrepiece green, which regularly hosts markets and outdoor entertainment. The rooms themselves include amenities such as complimentary toiletries, walk-in showers, hair dryers, Wi-Fi, and flatscreen TVs.

Meanwhile, included in the Wowcher deal is a welcome hamper that contains robes and slippers, sparkling water, shortbread, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Guests will also receive a free bottle of Prosecco to share.

Elsewhere, the hotel is home to the Baytree Bar and Jutemills restaurant. The venue serves up everything from full Scottish breakfasts and afternoon tea to three-course dinners.

Those staying at The Angus also have access to its swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna. Guests even receive a 25 per cent discount on its spa beauty treatments, including massages and facials.

Looking at travel website Tripadvisor, The Angus Hotel and Spa has an average rating of 3.5 out of five based on 1,662 reviews.

One recent guest: “Had a great weekend with large family group in this lovely hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, food and entertainment very good.

“Some of the bedrooms were a little dated but others had obviously just been redecorated and had lovely modern shower rooms. All rooms were spotlessly clean and I would definitely recommend this hotel, I hope to return there soon.”
