BANKRUPT ex-gambling addict Colin Hendry is the face of a firm promoting online betting.

The former Scotland skipper signed up with marketing business Matching Visions which specialises in advertising for web casinos.

Hendry — who went bust owing thousands through internet betting — will appear as an ambassador for the firm at a conference this weekend.

But last night a former friend of the troubled ex-Rangers ace hit out: “Shame on him. Hendry admitted internet gambling his money away.
Now he accepts a role with an international internet gaming company.”

Hendry, 50, went bust owing £2.2million, including £40,000 to bookmakers Spreadex, Sporting Index and Sportspread Betting.

He’ll appear at the Sigma conference in Malta this weekend to represent Matching Visions, who promote online betting firms, casinos and lotteries.

Announcing the tie-in, which includes an exhibition football game, the firm said: “Colin Hendry will be our ambassador and team captain throughout this spectacular event.

“Colin will represent Matching Visions, both on and off the field.

“There is certain to be an air of excitement during the tournament, with plenty of young football fanatics out there wanting to try their luck against this legendary defender.

“Off the field, Hendry will be the Matching Visions ambassador and join in with the long line of fun and exciting activities.”

Hendry lost his wife Denise, 42, in 2009, a year before going bankrupt.

In September, we told how he was back together with Sarah Kinder, 42 — despite him stalking her.

The pair dated for four years but split in November 2014 before they started seeing each other again in February last year.
