Scottish airport trials ‘free parking’ for holidaymakers with fab added bonus

A SCOTTISH airport has become the second to trial free parking for holidaymakers wanting to drop off their bags the night before they fly.

The twilight service allows passengers on morning flights to come to the airport the night before to check in bags and then head straight to security next morning.

And even better news, holidaymakers who take up the free offer at Glasgow Airport will get a 50 per cent saving if they book Priority Security passes.

They will then be able to whizz through the airport, swerving queues at bag drop and security and have more time to enjoy a pre-holiday meal and drink.

The Twilight Bag Drop service is available with three airlines at Glasgow Airport – easyJet, Jet2.com and Tui.

Holidaymakers will get free parking for up to one hour at the multi-storey carpark directly across from the terminal.

All they need do is check in online and download their boarding pass and park in the orange-coloured one-hour bays on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park directly opposite the terminal.

Then they need to take their luggage, passports and booking details to one of the three airlines’ designated Twilight Bag Drop areas and hand over their bags.

Passengers will then receive a QR code to get half price Priority Security next morning before returning to the car park payment machine on the ground floor, where they just need to enter vehicle registration and scan their boarding pass for the free parking.

Airport mistakes to avoid: From gate delays to overpriced currency exchange

Mark Beveridge, Glasgow Airport Managing Director, said: “The introduction of our Twilight Bag Drop service is proving to be incredibly popular both with passengers who either live near the airport or those staying in a hotel locally prior to their day of travel.

“With our airline partners easyJet, Jet2.com and Tui each adding additional based aircraft to their fleets, we anticipate welcoming nearly two million departing passengers this summer alone.

“With the addition of free parking for up to one hour and a 50 per cent Priority Security discount, the Twilight Bag Drop product delivers a hassle-free service so that passengers can enjoy a
seamless start to their holidays.”

Edinburgh Airport introduced free one-hour parking for Twilight drop-off earlier this month for passengers with a booking in the official Edinburgh Airport car parks.
