The ‘luxurious’ Scottish island hotel named country’s top ‘romantic spa break’
Scotland’s “most romantic spa break” has been named just in time for the start of summer.
As we enter the warmer months, there has never been a better time to book an idyllic getaway somewhere in the Scottish countryside. The list of peaceful destinations around the country is endless, but if it is true peace and relaxation you are after then nothing can top a spa break.
For those looking for inspiration, The Telegraph has published a list of “Britain’s most romantic spa breaks”. The Isle of Eriska Hotel is the only Scottish destination to feature, with the rest of the 15 getaway spots being found in England and Wales.
Described on its website as the “only five-star Scottish hotel that comes with its own private island”, the Isle of Eriska Hotel is situated on the tiny Isle of Eriska at the entrance to Loch Creran on Scotland’s west coast. The hotel features 34 bedrooms and suites in total, as well as a restaurant and of course a luxury spa.
In addition to the 16 bedrooms located in the main house, the Isle of Eriska Hotel is home to two spa suites in its gardens that have their own private hot tubs and three additional garden suites. There are also two two-bedroom garden cottages, six ‘Hilltop Reserves’ with private hot tubs and balconies, and the Arnott’s House holiday home — featuring three en-suite bedrooms and a private hot tub.
Meanwhile, the Isle of Eriska Hotel also features a heated swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, a sauna, and a steam room. There are five spa rooms, where treatments such as massages, facials, scrubs, and manicures are available.
Elsewhere, the hotel includes two separate restaurants. The Restaurant is found in an upscale dining room and specialises in gourmet dishes and wine, while The Deck Bar is a more laid-back venue that offers gorgeous views over the surrounding golf course.
The Telegraph gave the Isle of Eriska Hotel a rating of eight out of 10. The newspaper praised the hotel for its Ishga and Espa spa treatments, as well as its “sophisticated” dining options.

The Telegraph commented: “Treat your loved one to a night or two in one of this Scottish Baronial mansion’s luxurious spa suites. Set on a private island accessible by a bridge, amid glorious scenery in the West Highlands, these rooms have their own hot tubs and private gardens — they really push the experience up there as one of Scotland’s top luxury spa breaks for couples.”
