The ‘beautiful’ Scottish coastal hotel you can stay in for less than £80 for two

A “beautiful” and “very pleasant” Scottish coastal hotel can now be booked for two at a major discount.

With the summer season just about here, it may seem like it is too late to book a holiday for a low price. Fortunately, there are plenty of scenic spots all over Scotland you can head to for the perfect staycation that won’t break the bank.

One of these is the Royal Marine Hotel, situated in the town of Dunoon on the Cowal peninsula in the south of Argyll and Bute. Dating back to the 19th century, it is home to 31 en-suite bedrooms, as well a bar and restaurant.

The hotel is set against stunning coastal scenery, while the Tudor-style building is steeped in maritime history. It is also just a short distance from the picturesque Dunoon West Bay shingle beach.

Currently, an overnight stay for two at the Royal Marine Hotel can be booked for £79 through voucher website Wowcher, which is a 36 per cent discount off of the standard price. Meanwhile, a two-night stay that includes dinner is available for £199 — a discount of 33 per cent.

All bedrooms at the hotel include room service, Wi-Fi access, a flat screen TV, and various other amenities. Meanwhile, the Wowcher deals also come with a free traditional full Scottish breakfast in the morning and a late 12pm checkout.

One recent guest wrote: “A very pleasant stay. The staff gave us a warm welcome and were happy to help with all our questions.

“Comfortable and spacious. Free room upgrade. Dunoon easily accessible.”

A second echoed: “Best hotel I’ve stayed in Dunoon. Beautiful and quiet.

“Rooms are clean tidy, spacious. Bed was super comfortable.”

On the other hand, a less positive review reads: “I’m sure you can find better accommodation on Dunoon at a better price because this is a hostel at best.”
