Germany weather forecast revealed as Tartan Army heads for Scotland Euros opener

SCOTLAND fans will discover next week why the German word for weather is ‘wetter’.

Hundreds of thousands of Tartan Army footsoldiers are set to make the trip across the continent to cheer on Steve Clarke’s national side at the Euros.

But they’ll have to pack their waterproofs with their kilts and prepare for some wet weather in Germany when they arrive.

Scotland are set to clash with host nation Germany in the Euros opener on June 14.

But the big day is forecast to be a soggy affair in Munich, according to the BBC’s weather service.

The only good news is that the clouds break a few hours before kick-off, allowing the match itself to remain rain-free.

The following day looks much more promising, allowing the Tartan Army to celebrate – or nurse their hangovers – in the Bavarian capital’s beer gardens.

Saturday June 15 will see mid-afternoon highs of 22C (72F) with sunny intervals.

The Tartan Army‘s next clash will take them to Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia to face off with Switzerland on June 19.

Long-term forecasts on Accuweather predict Scots will still enjoy highs of 24C for the Swiss clash.

But it will be a downgrade from the Bavarian sunshine with cloudy skies and showers late in the evening and lows of 14C.

Things will be slightly better when the team heads to Stuttgart for the game against Hungary on June 23 in Stuttgart.

The German metropolis in Baden-Württemberg will enjoy highs of 22C during the day with the skies starting to turn cloudy.

Temperatures could drop to 13C with scattered evening showers.

Germany has suffered from unseasonable downpours in recent weeks and a fans campsite in Cologne has been cancelled due to flooding.
