Scottish Premiership club reveal new retro badge as fans say ‘it is a stunner’

SIXTEEN years after abandoning the famous crest donned by Claudio Caniggia and Fabian Caballero – Dundee will wear the ‘classic gold laurels’ once more.

Following their first top-half finish in nearly a decade, the new crest will bring back fond memories of Dundee‘s most recent European adventure which featured a trip to Italy to take on Perugia, in the 2003/2004 Uefa Cup.

The Tayside club adopted the classic gold, navy, and red crest in 1987, but made the switch to a more modern design in 2008, before adding a more defined navy crest to the badge in 2016 – worn by Tony Docherty’s side this past season.

But, after just eight seasons of the new emblem, the club have made the decision to move back to a “refreshed” version of their old crest in a move which aims to “pay homage to the club’s history”.

Fans have already taken to social media to show their support for what is widely believed to be a “superb” move for the club.

One fan wrote: “What a badge. What a club.”

A second added: “This is a thing of beauty glad the old badge is back.”

Whilst a third said: “Take my money.”

Another said: “That badge is so much better than the current one.”

With a fifth adding: “Love it!”

The club have also released their new training top, which features the updated club logo and those ‘gold laurels.’

The shirt looks to be a throwback to the 2002/03 where the recorded a top-half finish, qualifying for the Uefa Cup in the process.

Dundee secretary Eric Drysdale blames CLIMATE CHANGE for latest Rangers postponement

The reveal comes amid calls for the club to revamp their playing surface, after Dens’ Park fell victim to FIVE postponements this season.

Dens’ ground crew have already began work on the pitch ahead of the new season, less than a week from the vote which sees artificial pitches banned from the top flight from 2026.
