Scots Prem TV viewers skyrocket as 2.5 million boost takes numbers record high

The SPFL have announced that the Scottish Premiership saw a record number of TV viewers last season – with a stunning 2.5 MILLION boost in audience figures.

Sky Sports released their numbers which showed a year-on-year increase of 24 percent during season 2023/24. The stats also confirmed a massive 12.5million watched cinch Premiership matches on the channel last season which was a boost from the season previous which sat at 10.03m. The average number also skyrocketed from 228,000 to 285,000.

We told you recently how the Rangers vs Celtic derby clash at Ibrox back in April drew the highest number as that peaked at around 1.4m which is the highest number since 2013.

SPFL chief Neil Doncaster said: “It’s great news to see such strong growth in viewing figures for SPFL matches on Sky Sports this season.

“These fantastic viewing figures further demonstrate how compelling our national game is with supporters, as well as the significant interest in our game across Scotland and the UK.

“Sky Sports have been an excellent broadcaster partner for the SPFL over many seasons, and we look forward to continuing to build on our great working relationship in season 2024/25.”

It comes after an announcement yesterday afternoon from Premier Sports revealed they’d agreed to show 20 more games next season on their channels in what is an eight-figure deal for the league over five years.
