The ‘lovely’ Scottish hotel in riverside village you can book for half price
A Scottish riverside hotel that has been described as “lovely” and “excellent” can currently be booked at a bargain price.
With June already well underway, it is time to start thinking about summer holiday plans if you haven’t already. Fortunately, there are plenty of hotels and inns all over Scotland that won’t break the bank.
One of these is the Nithsdale Hotel in the peaceful Dumfries and Galloway village of Sanquhar. Currently, a two-night stay for two at the hotel can be booked for £99 through voucher website Wowcher — 55 per cent off the standard price of £220.
The Nithsdale Hotel, which is nestled along the banks of the river Nith, is just a stone’s throw from several notable attractions. Among the highlights are the scenic Southern Upland Way walking route and the 17th-century Drumlanrig Castle.
Meanwhile, all of the rooms at the hotel come with Wi-Fi access, flatscreen TVs, and various other amenities. Also included in the Wowcher deal is a “heavenly” dinner at its restaurant, as well as breakfast and a late 12pm checkout.
Among the highlights of the Nithsdale Hotel’s dinner menu are gammon steak, katsu curry, and fish and chips. The hotel is also home to a cosy bar that serves up a range of spirits, wines, cocktails, and malts.
Looking at travel website Tripadvisor, the Nithsdale Hotel is popular amongst visitors. It currently has an average rating of four out of five based on 389 reviews.
