Teenage Toryglen boxer makes history winning gold for Team Scotland

A teenage Toryglen boxer has made history by winning gold for Team Scotland.

Lexi Clark, of Southside Boxing Academy and Community Hub in Prospecthill Circus, was one of 14 fighters for Team Scotland to secure gold, winning in the GB Youth 66Kg category at the GB Junior & Youth Three Nations Championships in Cardiff.

The 2024 squad in Wales surpassed all expectations to deliver a record-breaking Junior & Youth Gold medal haul, after winning 14 out of 26 finals.

Lexi’s part in the achievement marks her as the first female from the Southside Boxing Academy & Community Hub to secure a gold medal at the GBs.

Her coach, Anthony Quayle, spoke about how proud he is of the 16-year-old, and said: “Lexi began her boxing journey three years ago, and despite facing numerous challenges along the way, she has demonstrated exceptional skill and determination when it counts the most.

“Her season, however, is far from over. Lexi, along with 17 other boxers from Southside, is set to compete for more silverware at the Hull Box Cup at the end of the month, aiming to add more gold to their collection.”
