Bars run dry as Tartan Army arrives in Munich for Euro 2024

Thousands of kilted Scotland fans have touched down in Munich before the Euro 2024 opening game against Germany.

Supporters were welcomed into the country by a bagpiper at airport arrivals before they flooded into pubs and restaurants to soak up the atmosphere. Within hours of the influx, some bars were said to have run out of beer.

Taps ran dry at Woerner’s bar in the city’s Marienplatz, with one waitress saying: “It’s not our fault — your fans like beer so much.”

Scotland are participating in their second major tournament since the 1998 World Cup in France, having previously competed in Euro 2020.
