Unique job offers chance to work at Harry Potter beauty spot with accommodation
Two exciting job opportunities have come up at some of Scotland’s most spectacular beauty spots.
The National Trust for Scotland is currently hiring Visitor Services Assistants at both Glencoe and Glenfinnan. Both of the positions are available on either a full-time or part-time basis, with the possibility of on-site accommodation.
The two positions are on a fixed-term contract to the end of October, making them perfect for Scots looking to spend the summer immersed in the country’s natural beauty. The jobs pay £12.60 per hour, and no formal educational qualification is needed to apply.
As well as the opportunity to live and work in some of Scotland’s most beautiful destinations, benefits of the jobs include 37.5 days of annual leave and a rewards scheme. The successful candidates will even get free entry to all National Trust for Scotland sites to enjoy during their time off.
Harry Potter fans in particular may have their heads turned by the Visitor Services Assistant position at the Glenfinnan Monument and Visitor Centre. Those familiar with the movie series will know that the Glenfinnan Viaduct was a major filming location for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets — namely the iconic scene where Harry and Ron try to catch up to the Hogwarts Express in their flying car.
The job, which will be based in the National Trust for Scotland’s busy shop or catering outlets, will see the successful applicant help generate income that enables the charity to care for the world-renowned historic site. Key responsibilities will include serving customers and promoting the benefits of National Trust for Scotland membership.
The job listing on HiJOBS states: “This is an exciting and varied role based at Glenfinnan Monument and Visitor Centre. You’ll help us welcome visitors from across the globe and ensure they have a very enjoyable experience here from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. Through warm, engaging, informative interactions, you’ll help share stories about this amazing place.”
Elsewhere, the other Visitor Services Assistant role will be based at the Glencoe Visitor Centre in the Glencoe National Nature Reserve — one of Scotland’s most iconic and picturesque destinations. While Glenfinnan is known for being featured in Harry Potter, Glencoe can be seen in films such as Braveheart and Skyfall.
