Scotland hero gets asked to sign own history-making Adidas Predator boots
GOALS in Old Firm derbies are always special.
They mean a lot to anyone connected with Celtic or Rangers – but some mean more than others.
Whether it’s a cup final clinch, a strike to secure the Premiership title or a last-minute winner, they live in the hearts of fans and players forevermore.
And one Glasgow derby goal resonates even further than that.
Celtic‘s only goal in a 1-1 draw against Rangers in 1994 was the first ever to be scored by a player wearing the now world famous Adidas Predator boot.
The footie cleat was launched ahead of the 1994 World Cup and since become synonymous with playmakers such as Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Steven Gerrard.

But the man who hit the back of the net with the stylish shoe before all of them as Hoops and Scotland hero John Collins.
The silky midfielder therefore has a unique place in football folklore.
A star for Scotland at the 1998 World Cup (in which he also scored Scotland’s opening goal), Collins, now 56, is over in Germany at the moment for Euro 2024.
Being the home of Adidas, Collins was spotted at the Adidas Museum on the eve of the opening fixture.
Wearing his Scotland top, he was asked to sign the same boots he scored that momentous goal with 30 years ago.
The shoes will be going into the Adidas archive and bizarrely, as he signed them, Collins had to wear GLOVES (so as to prevent any markings or damage).
Meanwhile, SunSport columnist Gordon Strachan has revealed the team HE would pick to face Germany tonight.
The former Celtic and Scotland boss has made some big calls, including who should start between Che Adams and Lawrence Shankland.
