Roy Keane says Andy Robertson talking rubbish in angry rant at woeful Scotland
ROY KEANE accused Andy Robertson of talking rubbish as he attempted to rationalise Scotland’s dismal showing against Germany in their Euro 2024 opener in Munich.
Honest Robbo admitted that the Germans’ game plan was a MILLION times more effective than Scotland’s had been during that first half.
But his comments still drew short shrift from an angry Keano, who slammed the game plan was RUBBISH and Robertson was talking RUBBISH when he said the Scots would be angry for only a day or two after making history for all the wrong reasons.
Instead of pressing the game the Scots generally dropped deep – yet still gave the likes of Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz copious amounts of room on the edge of the box to fire in goals.
Keane said: “Andy Robertson said ‘we weren’t aggressive enough’ ,well you have to be aggressive in a game of football.
“Playing against a team that is much stronger than you, being aggressive is part of football.

“I love watching Scotland players. I absolutely love them and the talent in the German players we saw tonight, given time, was great to watch.
“But my goodness in football at this level, you have to hit people and hit them hard.
“Not step off them, like Scotland did tonight.
“Scotland were talking at the end of the game about the game plan.
“It’s no good saying ‘we had a gameplan’, it’s rubbish!
“It was just rubbish Andy Robertson [was] coming out [with].
“After the game it’s no good coming out of the game and saying we will regroup.
“Talking about being angry tomorrow they should be angry for a long time.
“They talked about creating history well they created history alright, by playing as badly as that.”
To be fair to him, Robertson didn’t shirk from the fact that they let the Tartan Army down badly in last night’s 5-1 mauling in Munich.
he admits the race is now on to fix all the problems in time for the make-or-break clash with Switzerland next week.
He said: “It was tough, in the first half we got it all wrong really.
“We didn’t really show up and left good players on the ball.
“We have a few days to be angry at ourselves now.
“We obviously had a game plan and so did they, theirs worked a million times better than ours.
“That wasn’t because of the practice, it was because we didn’t put it together on the pitch.
“When big occasions come like this you have to do that and we didn’t do that in the first half.
“I thought the lads dug in well in the second half, we were down to ten men, and lost a scrappy goal at the end.
“We could have drawn the second half but it’s no consolation.
“We have been well backed over here by the supporters so tonight was hugely disappointing.
“We played the host nation in the opening game, it doesn’t get much tougher than that.
“But we have to dust ourselves off because there were a lot of things wrong and we have to sort it.
“There’s a quick turnaround to the next game.
“Maybe this is a reminder of how tough this tournament is, you’re playing world class teams and Germany showed that today.
“Their big players showed up, they were excellent all over the park and had an answer for everything we had.
