Why Did Scotland Ban Cody Rhodes’ Pyro at Clash at the Castle?

Tonight, WWE celebrates one of the most important Premium Live Events of the year, Clash at the Castle, from Glasgow, Scotland. The show features the Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre challenging Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. In addition, Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles are going one-on-one once again for the WWE Undisputed Championship in an ‘I Quit Match’.

The crowd is all hyped up for the event. And when Rhodes made his way to the ring, everyone got ready to sing “Kingdom” while the arena was illuminated with fireworks. However, that did not occur. Instead, it was a lot quieter for a WWE PLE. But why did the WWE not use the pyros? Was it a technical error? Well, in actuality, it all happened as per the direction of the Scottish government.

In June 2022, the Scottish government came up with a rule that prohibits the use of pyrotechnics and is the reason behind the WWE being unable to use them in the Clash at the Castle tonight. The act in question is ‘The Fireworks and Pyrotechnics Articles Act 2022’ as it prohibits the possession of pyrotechnic articles in public places and at designated venues and events. According to a report, there were several instances involving the use of flares in soccer matches in the country that led to the ban.

And this surely has dulled down the effect that one expects from the WWE. After all, a major praise that the WWE gets in comparison to All Elite Wrestling is their venues. Whether it be a major event like WrestleMania or a PLE like Kings and Queens of the Ring, the pyros play a major part. After all, you cannot imagine an iconic superstar entry like those of Goldberg or Edge without the bursting pyros around them. So maybe the WWE might try to work around the legal technicalities the next time they hold another event in the country.

But for now, all eyes are glued to the ongoing matchup between Universal Champion Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles. As it is the American Nightmare’s first ever I quit match, Will he be dethroned, since Styles will enjoy the support of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson? Only time will tell. But what do you think? Who would win? And did the lack of pyros affect your viewership experience? Let us know in the comments.
