Water watchdog boss claimed officials’ £560 meal on expenses

The interim boss of Scotland’s troubled water regulator was present at a meal where civil servants were wined and dined, with more than £300 spent on alcohol, and later claimed for the bill on his expenses.

David Satti was also one of the senior managers from the Water Industry Commission for Scotland (Wics) who was sent on an executive training course in London and Argentina costing more than £84,000.

The Scottish government said it was “deeply concerned” about recent revelations of spending at Wics.

Mairi McAllan, the net zero and energy minister, last week announced an external review of the organisation after more details of huge sums spent on training courses and travel emerged through a freedom of information release.
