GB Olympic Squad Announcement – Scottish Hockey
Scottish Hockey is proud to announce that four Scottish players have been selected into the Great Britain squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics
Sarah Roberston, Charlotte Watson, Amy Costello and Lee Morton have been named in their respective squads for the games starting in July 2024. Jess Buchanan has also been named as a travelling reserve.
Sarah Robertson won bronze with GB Women at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and will compete in her second Olympics after being selected for Paris. It’s a phenomenal achievement for the Borders-born attacking midfielder, who scored in GB’s 4-3 win over India to claim their medal. Sarah has also represented Scotland at three Commonwealth Games and was part of Scotland 2019 EuroHockey Championship II gold medal-winning team.
Scotland striker Charlotte Watson has been selected for her first Olympics as part of the GB women’s squad for Paris. The forward made her GB debut in July 2019 having already amassed more than 60 Scotland caps by the age of 21. Charlotte was part of Scotland’s Commonwealth Games squads in Gold Coast and Birmingham and was also in the Scotland squad that won the 2019 EuroHockey Championships II in Glasgow, scoring the winner to secure the gold medal.
Amy Costello, still at school when she played her first game for Scotland at the EuroHockey Indoor Championship II in January 2016, has gone on to represent her country at two Commonwealth Games. Since making her GB debut in 2018, Amy has also become a regular in defence. She featured heavily during the 2019 and 2020/21 FIH Hockey Pro League seasons, winning the bronze medal in 2021, and was selected as a travelling reserve for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Amy will make her first appearance at an Olympics in Paris 2024.
Lee Morton has been involved with the GB development programme since 2017 and then made his full GB debut in 2018. Lee represented Scotland at Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and was part of the gold medal-winning EuroHockey Championship II side in 2017. Lee captained Scotland at the 2023 EuroHockey Championships II and played an important role in qualifying GB for Paris 2024.
Jess Buchanan made her debut between the sticks for GB in the recent round of Pro League matches and has been part of the Scotland women’s squad over the last couple of years with 14 outdoor caps to her name. Jess was part of Scotland’s squad at the EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach and has been selected as a travelling reserve for Paris 2024.
This selection is a deserved achievement for the incredible hard work and determination they have shown over the years for Scotland, and for GB. We look forward to watching each progress and will be cheering on from home soil.
