John Lundstram thrashes out post Rangers transfer as medical booked
Former Rangers midfielder John Lundstram is posed to complete a move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.
The ex-Sheffield United star is a free agent following the expiry of his Ibrox contract after three years in Glasgow. Lundstram was released along with fellow out-of-contract stars Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, Kemar Roofe and Jon McLaughlin and the 30-year-old is on the verge of rubber-stamping his switch to the Super Lig.
It’s understood Lundstram will jet into Istanbul on Sunday to undergo a medical, and barring any unexpected hitches will put pen to paper on a lucrative deal. Scottish Cup and League Cup winner Lundstram is expected to sign a two-year contract and could be joined by ex-Gers teammate Barisic.
The Croatian left-back has held pre-contract discussions with Trabzonspor but an announcement regarding his future has yet to be made. Lundstram and Barisic’s Rangers careers ended in a damp squib as Philippe Clement’s side faltered in the title race and lost last month’s Old Firm Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.
Lundstram was chastised by Gers fans for his costly red card in last month’s title-decider at Parkhead as Celtic wrapped up three-in-a-row.
