Ralston Spared Of Scotland Blame By BBC Pundit | Latest Celtic News

Scotland’s Euro 2024 campaign faced a hiccup as they drew 1-1 with Switzerland, and while Anthony Ralston’s error was highlighted in the aftermath, David Moyes has shifted the focus towards a collective team responsibility.

Scotland secured an early lead through Scott McTominay but saw it cancelled out by Xherdan Shaqiri after a misplaced backpass by Ralston led to Switzerland’s equaliser. This moment became a critical talking point, but Moyes directed the analysis towards a preceding error by teammate Grant Hanley.

Moyes provided a different perspective on the incident, critiquing the choice of pass made by Hanley. Speaking on the BBC, alongside Joe Hart, Moyes explained, “I was really disappointed with Grant Hanley’s pass.

“I thought it was much easier to keep the ball in the grass, roll it into Billy Gilmour who could have dealt with it a lot easier.

“He’s struggling to deal with it. I know it’s Ralston who’s going to take the hit for a bit. I think Grant Hanley had a better chance to play a better pass.”

It’s a game of opinions. While Hanley shouldn’t have fired the ball at Gilmour, Ralston should have done better with the ball, even if it meant clearing it to row z, not playing Switzerland through.

It all boils down to Sunday, now. Scotland needs three points if they are to have any chance of going through.
