Dior fashion show comes to Scotland as A-List celebs land in rural Perthshire

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is just one of the VIP guests at Dior’s fashion show in Scotland which takes place tonight in the gardens of Drummond Castle.

The legendary French fashion house, which was founded by Christian Dior, is set to unveil their 2025 Cruise Collection and have chosen Perthshire as the setting. Drummond Castle gardens were used in the 1995 film Rob Roy and doubled as Versailles in the smash show Outlander.

Selected guests, which also include Peaky Blinders star Annabelle Wallis and organiser of the Scottish Fashion Awards and star of Real Housewives of Jersey Tessa Haartman CBE, began arriving at Gleneagles Hotel yesterday where they were treated to a day of leisure with some outdoor pursuits such as archery and falconry offered.

Emily in Paris star Lily Collins has also been holidaying in Scotland ahead of the show and has posted pics from the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, leading to speculation she will also be attending.

Maisie, 27, posted a picture on her Instagram stories from inside Gleneagles and tagged Dior.

Special guests were given gifts including Dior T-shirts, perfume, handbags and goody bags bearing the name of the fashion giant.

Some were presented with special artworks of themselves which adorned the walls. For dinner, plans to treat them to a lavish meal al fresco were scuppered by the rain and they had to head inside.

A buffet station served up dishes including caviar and lobster alongside salmon, blackberries, blueberries and cheese and crackers in the hotel.

It’s the first time Dior has been back to Scotland for a major show since they came to Gleneagles Hotel in 1955 where the couturier put on a lavish catwalk display.

The brand founder and designer brought 172 dresses and eight models to showcase his work in the Auchterarder hotel’s main lobby.

The stunning collection, which was flown to Scotland on a private plane, was insured for £60,000 and was shown on a specially built catwalk in the ballroom.

A collection of original Dior dresses and fashions from that event were yesterday displayed inside the famous ballroom at the venue, whilst photographs from it were also on there for guests to see.

Previous cruise collections have been shown in Mexico, Spain and Greece.

In Mexico City, Chiuri took inspiration from iconic artist Frido Kahlo. The year before, in Seville, the collection paid homage to Spanish flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya. And in 2021 the legendary French fashion house used the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens as the backdrop for its draped goddess gowns inspired by ancient Greek mythology.

Dior has many famous ambassadors who represent the brand globally and attend their shows in London, Paris and Milan. From Robert Pattison and Elizabeth Debecki to Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlize Theron, Sharon Stone and Monica Belluci they represent Dior in all areas of the brand.

The Mexico City show last year welcomed Alicia Keys, Naomi Watts, Rachel Zegler, Emma Raducanu and more. In Athens, Cara Delevigne, Suki Waterhouse and Catherine Deneuve attended while Elle MacPherson and Bridgerton star Charithra Chandran took their seats.

And with the show being held in Scotland, speculation is high that perhaps the FROW will include some of our notable home-grown talent.

Dior created costumes for Tilda Swinton’s 2015 film ‘A Bigger Splash’. The actress was pictured on set wearing a white silk skirt and DiorFuturist sunglasses which were designed especially for the movie. She also wore a silk printed dress, a white silk jumpsuit and a floral silk kimono in the remake of Jacques Deray’s legendary La Piscine.

A tight ring of security surrounds the event with a specially employed drone expert having been hired to keep other drones away and safeguard the security of 500 plus VIP guests.

Ex policeman and Scots-born drone pilot Steven Mcintosh told his Facebook followers: “Exciting Announcement! I am thrilled to share that H.A.W.Q. Drone Services has been asked to take flight to secure the skies above the World-Renowned’DIOR Fashion Icon’ who will be presenting their ‘Cruise Collection 2025’ in Scotland.

“I will be securing the skies over the event whilst keeping people safe.”
