Boro youth prospect Terrell Agyemang seals Scotland loan for the season
Terrell Agyemang will spend next season on loan at Airdrie United, boosting his first-team experience in the Scottish Championship.
Agyemang has made the switch early in the summer, giving him a great opportunity to quickly integrate with his new team-mates at his new club north of the border. It is hoped the versatile player can earn regular game-time at the North Lanarkshire club in order to boost his development.
On the loan move, the Boro prospect said: “It’s a new challenge, so I’m looking forward to it. I’ve heard about how Airdrie play, so that attracted me a lot. I just want to come and enjoy my football again and get playing.

“I’d say I’m quite technical, I like to get on the ball a lot and get play moving. I can bring energy, and I’m quite versatile in playing positions – so yeah, energy and technique!”
Manager Rhys McCabe added: “Terrell is a very technical player, having been brought up in some big academies including Man City, where he played with the Under-23s and trained with the first team. He’s at a stage now where he’s really ready to kick on and play.
“He understands what we’re trying to do here, and he brings real quality – I think the fans will be delighted with this one. He gives you a goal threat, and can play as an eight, a wing-back, or a full-back – so he can cover a few positions, which is a bonus.”
Capable of playing both right-back and midfield, the 21-year-old joined Boro’s academy last summer from Manchester City, having helped the Young Citizens win the Premier League 2 title the year before.
Unable to make a first-team breakthrough on Teesside, however, he played regularly for the under-21s during a successful campaign last term, and also spent two spells on loan at Hartlepool United in the National League too.
His first in October saw him make five appearances in total and he returned to the Suit Direct Stadium in March, making a further ten appearances for the Poolies. He now makes what is believed to be a step-up in standard to play in the Scottish second tier next term.
Boro will be hoping Agyemang can benefit from game-time in the Scottish Championship like many other academy prospects have in recent years. Isaiah Jones enjoyed a fruitful spell for Queen of the South before returning to make an impressive breakthrough at Boro two years ago.
In the same season, goalkeeper Zach Hemming and Sol Brynn played in the division too, with Hemming since establishing himself as a first-choice at St Mirren in the Premiership and Brynn playing regularly in League One last term. Both return this summer hoping to make their Boro breakthroughs.
