The ‘beautiful’ Scottish seaside getaway for two you can book for half price

A “beautiful” Scottish seaside guest house with “lovely” food is currently available to book at a bargain price.

When it comes to deciding where to head for a getaway in Scotland, the sheer variety on offer can be overwhelming to say the least. From bustling city breaks to quiet and picturesque retreats, there is no limit to what you can get up to around the country.

If you are looking for inspiration, however, one guesthouse in an idyllic seaside village can be booked for less than half price through Wowcher. At the moment, an overnight stay for two at the New Durn House in Portsoy is available for £99 — down from the standard price of £215.

All of the luxurious suites at the guest house come with all manner of amenities, from flatscreen TVs to complimentary toiletries. The Wowcher deal also includes a complimentary cocktail each upon arrival, as well as a full breakfast in the morning.

There is also the option to upgrade your stay to include £30 of dining credit each at the hotel’s restaurant for a total cost of £149. The meals served up include produce from the hotel’s own kitchen garden.

Meanwhile, Portsoy was just named the Daily Record’s earlier this month — so you know there is plenty to do around the village. Standouts include the historic Portsoy Marble shop, the Hook Line and Sinker chippy, and of course the treasure trove of scenic coastal walks.

Looking at travel website Tripadvisor, the New Durn House is very popular amongst visitors. It currently has an average rating of 4.5 out of five based on 647 reviews.

One recent guest shared: “The black pudding and muscles starters were delicious! Both had steaks for mains, rib eye and T bone! Both cooked to perfection, lovely staff!

“Beautiful hotel, lovely food, and great drinks! There was a wedding event the next morning, so we got to see the gorgeous dress set up Eden room.”

A second echoed: “We stayed here for just one night with our dog and had such a lovely time. The hotel is located in a great spot not a far walking distance to Portsoy where there’s plenty to see/eat/drink.

“We loved the doggy friendly touches like dog bowls and treats in the room. The beds were super comfy and staff were so lovely to us. We ate dinner and breakfast here and can honestly say both meals were fantastic. Thank you for having us!”
