Scotland’s three ‘most scenic’ driving routes for summer crowned in top UK list

Scotland’s “most scenic” driving routes have been named, with three placing among the top 10 in the UK.

Summer is the perfect time for a road trip, and luckily Scotland has plenty of picturesque routes to choose from. To help drivers across the nation settle on one, Land Rover Discovery set out to uncover the UK’s most popular scenic routes using Instagram data.




Coming in at number two on the list, and the highest-placing Scottish route, is the North Coast 500. Extending more than 516 miles along the north of the country, the NC500 starts and ends at Inverness Castle.

Taking drivers through some of Scotland’s most awe-inspiring and dramatic landscapes, it is perfect for those who are looking for variety. According to the experts, there are just under 500,000 posts on Instagram of the NC500.

Following behind in sixth place on the overall list is the Moray Firth Route in the North Highlands. Approximately 80 miles in length, this road trip starts at Inverness and ends at Loch Fleet on Scotland’s east coast.

Highlights of the route include the rugged landscapes of Easter Ross and Sutherland. It has approximately 51,500 posts on Instagram according to Land Rover Discovery.

Meanwhile, The East Neuk of Fife comes in eighth place. Celebrated for its idyllic fishing villages and scenic coastal views, the route has 24,295 posts on Instagram according to the experts.
