Runner jogging from Scotland to every capital city in UK and Ireland for charity

A big-hearted runner aiming to jog from Scotland to every capital in the UK and Ireland within 10 days says he is “excited” to embark on the challenge.

Jonny Davies will run around 56 miles – 90 kilometres – every day, covering a total distance of 559 miles – 900km – and taking him between 12 and 14 hours every day.

The 31-year-old is doing the feat, which will begin in Edinburgh, to raise money for charity. Mr Davies, from London, will be setting off in September, before getting a ferry to Northern Ireland and running to Belfast.

The long-distance runner, who ran the length of the London Underground in 2023, will then run to Dublin before getting a boat to Wales to run to Cardiff and finally to London.

He has been training for the challenge for more than a year and intends on doing practice runs on sections of the journey “just to be a bit more familiar with those places,” he said.

He is most looking forward to running from Belfast to Dublin due to the “beautiful scenery” and is anticipating that traversing Wales will be challenging because of the hilly terrain.

He said: “I’m feeling great, I’m excited.” The runner will be applying lessons learned from running the London Underground in 11 days to his new endeavour.
