Flight to Scotland forced to abort landing after runway issue at airport

A flight from Turkey to Scotland was forced to abort landing due to an issue at the airport.

The plane, which took off from the Turkish capital, Antalya, was due to land at Edinburgh Airport during the early hours of Friday morning.




However, the Jet2 aircraft was forced to divert mid-air after pilots were notified of a runway issue.

The LS710 flight instead landed at Glasgow Airport at around 2.20am.

Images of the flight route show the aircraft hovering over the Scottish Borders before it changed course.

Jet2 confirmed that pilots were forced to change the route after being notified of a runway closure. The airline apologised to passengers for any inconvenience.

A spokesperson said: “Following a runway closure at Edinburgh Airport, flight LS710 diverted to Glasgow Airport last night. Customers received ground transportation back to Edinburgh Airport.

“We would like to apologise to all customers for any inconvenience caused, which was completely beyond our control.”
