Scotland’s five ‘cheapest’ petrol pumps named as major supermarket tops list

Scotland’s cheapest petrol stations have been revealed in new research to help drivers cut motoring costs.

Fuel prices may have dropped from the heights seen back in 2022, but prices are still 120 per cent higher than pre-pandemic levels, according to experts from Macklin Motors.

They highlight that Scotland online searches for “cheap unleaded petrol near me” have spiked by 100 per cent in the last three months – showing the demand for cheaper fuel is still high. As such, the used car specialists have uncovered the top five local petrol stations that offer the lowest prices.

Findings show that all retailers are stations that are branches of two major supermarkets – Asda and Morrisons. With Asda taking the top two and fifth spots – the three cheapest outlets are located in Dundee.

Below you’ll find the top five petrol outlets for the cheapest fuel, as well as their full location addresses and prices for unleaded petrol in pence per litre.

A Macklin Motors spokesperson said: “We all love to find new ways to save money at the petrol station, and, as our research shows, this can be as simple as finding the cheapest pumps in your area.

“You can also save money on fuel by tweaking your driving habits. Avoiding harsh acceleration, maintaining tyre pressure, and turning off the AC are just a few examples of how you can become more fuel efficient.

“By minimising any stress about fuel costs or consumption, you can get back to enjoying the open road.”
