Three Scottish gardens named best in country for July based on visitor reviews

Three gardens have been named as the best in Scotland for a July visit.

When the sun is shining, there is nothing better than spending an afternoon surrounded by colourful plants. In Scotland, we are spoiled for choice when it comes to picturesque green space, but three have triumphed above the rest in new research conducted by InsureandGo.

Topping the list is the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, with 94.6 per cent of its reviews being four stars or higher. The world-famous garden, which dates back to 1670, is situated in the Inverleith district of the city.

Home to one of the largest and richest plant collections in the world, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is set out over more than 70 acres of idyllic green space. Among its highlights are the Chinese Hillside, Rock Garden, and Woodland Garden.

Elsewhere, the second-highest rated garden in Scotland is Princes Street Gardens. Also located in Edinburgh, the public park was found to have 94 per cent of reviews being four stars or higher.

Finally, moving over to Scotland’s biggest city, the Glasgow Botanic Garden is the third highest-rated garden in Scotland according to InsureandGo. With 92.5 per cent of its reviews being four stars or above, the garden is popular amongst visitors for its spectacular Kibble Palace glasshouse.

CEO at InsureandGo Chris Rolland commented: “Embarking on a holiday to discover something unique is part of what drives so many travellers to book a flight and adventure somewhere new, whether that’s a renowned restaurant or a rare indigenous plant. For tourists travelling in search of exciting new plants they can’t see at home, there’s plenty of excellent countries offering different flora and landscapes, from deserts full of cacti to rainforests full of tropical plants.

“No matter which country you choose, however, always be mindful of the risks that nature can bring. Having comprehensive travel insurance is crucial for covering unexpected events, so you can go without the doubt.

“If you’re hiking, don’t stray away from the designated paths to get closer to any specific plants or flowers, and always avoid touching any that are unfamiliar to you. If you experience any skin irritation or discomfort after contact with plants while on holiday, seek medical guidance as soon as possible to avoid unwanted health concerns.”
