Mariners’ Julio Rodríguez placed on 10-day IL with high ankle sprain after crashing into outfield wall
The Seattle Mariners placed Julio Rodríguez on the 10-day injured list with a high ankle sprain after colliding into the outfield wall at T-Mobile Park during Sunday’s win over the Houston Astros.
Rodríguez’s tracked a ball hit to deep center field by Yordan Álvarez but crashed into the wall and dropped the ball. Once he hit the ground, the two-time AL All-Star and 2022 AL Rookie of the Year, grabbed his right ankle in pain.
Mariners manager Scott Servais said after the game that X-rays on Rodríguez’s ankle were negative.
This is the third time that Rodríguez, who is batting .263 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs, will spend time on the IL in his MLB career.
