New Sabres Forward Could Be Big Addition

Earlier this offseason, the Buffalo Sabres signed forward Jason Zucker to a one-year, $5 million contract. While Zucker is not necessarily a big-name winger, the 32-year-old has the potential to be a significant addition to the Sabres in 2024-25.

When looking at the Sabres’ roster heading into the 2024-25 season, there is no question that there is a clear spot to fight for in their top six. While the Sabres added several forwards this summer, they did not necessarily bring in a guaranteed replacement for Jeff Skinner. Thus, with a strong camp and start to the season, Zucker could cement himself a place in Buffalo’s top six.

Zucker has also shown in the past that he can be a strong offensive contributor. For example, just back in 2022-23 with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he had 27 goals and 48 points in 78 games. Furthermore, he has hit the 20-goal mark five times in his career and had at least 40 points four times. His best campaign came in 2017-18 with the Minnesota Wild, when he had 33 goals and 64 points in 82 games.

However, besides having the potential to be a key offensive weapon for the Sabres, Zucker should also make an impact because of his experience and leadership qualities. In addition, he also should bring some bite to the lineup, as his 98 hits this past season effectively show.

It will be very intriguing to see what kind of season he puts together for Buffalo from here.
