McKelvie, who currently serves as the team’s associate head coach, will take over head coaching duties from Brian Riley for the 2025-26 season.

A product of New Brighton, Minn., McKelvie has been on Army’s staff for the past 10 seasons. While he served as assistant coach for his first two seasons, McKelvie has worked as associate head coach since 2016.

Prior to getting into coaching, McKelvie enjoyed a three-year pro career, where he suited up in the ECHL (Reading Royals & Alaska Aces) and the AHL (Providence Bruins & Abbotsford Heat).

McKelvie also played four seasons at Army, where he scored 14 goals and added 42 assists for 56 points in 132 career games.

Still 39, McKelvie has proven to be a solid coach at the NCAA level and will be one to watch as he enters his last season before taking over the reins.
