Mariners Promote Briere to Director of Hockey Operations
As the Maine Mariners gear up for the 2024-25 season, they announced a change within their hockey operations department. The club announced that Cam Briere has been promoted to Director of Hockey Operations.
The 23-year-old Briere has served as Maine’s video coach since 2019. His role in hockey operations has expanded each season and he’s also a frequent on-ice contributor during team practices.
In his new role, Briere will coordinate team travel logistics, manage player visas, and perform other administrative duties.
A promotion of this magnitude means a great deal to Briere, having spent his last five years with the Mariners.
“I’ve seen this team grow from the ground up and it’s amazing to be a part of it,” Briere said following the announcement.

Briere also has youth coaching experience, having led 14- and 16U teams for Maine Evolution, a program run by Mariners head coach and general manager Terrence Wallin, who believes Briere’s prior experience and longevity with the Mariners will be valuable in his new role.
“(Cam’s) knowledge of how we operate on the hockey operations side will help us continue to run things smoothly on a daily basis,” Wallin said following the club’s announcement of Briere’s new duties.
Briere and the Mariners will open the 2024-25 season at home against the Wheeling Nailers on Friday, October 18.
