Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown reportedly not expected to return during regular season
The Kansas City Chiefs do not expect to have Marquise “Hollywood” Brown available during the regular season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Brown is set to undergo surgery to repair a dislocated sternoclavicular joint in his shoulder and was placed on injured reserve. He is not expected back until mid-January.
On Friday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid indicated that Brown’s injury would be long-term.
“There are not a lot of these [injuries] that we have information on,” Reid said. “We have to ride it out and see where we’re at. It’s not going to be weeks, it’s going to be more like months.”
The 27-year-old wide receiver did not play during the Chiefs’ Week 1 win over the Baltimore Ravens and has been out since suffering the injury during the team’s first preseason game in August. Earlier this month, he was given a 4-6 week recovery timetable, but after further evaluation it was determined surgery would be the best next step as the shoulder was not healing properly.

Brown posted on X Friday saying he was “disappointed” and frustrated” about his injury.
Brown signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs in March, with the deal worth up to $11 million. He spent the past two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, making 51 receptions for 574 yards and four touchdowns.
