Sharks Head Coach Calls Out Roster With ‘Passengers’ As Search For First Win Continues
San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky didn’t hold back during his media availability after last night’s 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

San Jose has lost eight straight games to open its season for the second consecutive year. Warsofsky wasn’t shy about calling out his team for a lack of consistency.
“We need guys to step up, we need a lot of guys to step up, be more consistent night after night, and we’re just not getting that at all,” Warsofsky said postgame. “A lot of passengers, and when one guy’s going, the next night he’s not going.”
The Sharks haven’t gotten much scoring from anyone other than Mikael Granlund or Tyler Toffoli. Granlund has scored all three goals the Sharks potted in the last two games. Despite Granlund scoring the two goals, the bench boss wasn’t happy with the start of the top line, which was on the ice for all three goals.
Despite a strong finish to his 23-24 season, forward Klim Kostin has found himself in Warsofsky’s dog house.
Klim Kostin played 7 shifts tonight for a 5:09 total. He had five in the first and two shifts in the second. The last shift ended with 11:36 left in the second. He was the only #SJSharks skater not to reach at least 10 minutes of ice time.

The Sharks’ message to the team and media is “Last year was last year,” but many of the same issues are plaguing the team. Warsofsky has said it will take time to eliminate the “scar tissue” of the last few seasons.
Warsofsky wasn’t shy about making a call to action when discussing what type of players he wants on his roster.
“No. I mean, it’s the National Hockey League. You work so hard as a kid to get to this point in your career and whatnot? We’re gonna just say we’re in a tough spot and just shy away? This is life. You’re gonna get punched in the face with some adversity, and we gotta push through it,” Warsofsky said. “This is the best league in the world. And if you don’t have joy in playing this game, then you’re in the wrong business and you’re on the wrong team. And we’ll weed those guys right out.”
With the head coach’s strong words, questions have to be asked about what changes he plans to make to his roster.
