Brady Tkachuk Passes Popular Former Ottawa Senator For Sixth In All-Time Club Goal Scoring
Brady Tkachuk just turned 25 last month, so he may seem a little young to already be considered one of the greatest players in the 32-year history of the Ottawa Senators.
But this is where we are.
With his two goals last night in an 8-1 demolition of the St. Louis Blues, Tkachuk moved past Mike Fisher and into sixth place on the team’s all-time goal-scoring list.
Before being traded to Nashville and quickly developing a full southern accent, Fisher spent parts of 11 seasons with the Senators which amounted to 675 games. Tkachuk flew past him in just 449 games.
By season’s end, he’ll probably reel in Dany Heatley and Marian Hossa to get to reach the Mount Rushmore of Ottawa goal scoring. 20 goals in the next 73 games and fourth place seems well within his reach.
Tkachuk still has almost four full years left on his contract, so during the life his deal, he’s easily on pace to roll past Alexei Yashin and Jason Spezza too. He’s 50 back of Yashin and 83 behind Spezza.
But matching Daniel Alfredsson’s number will require another contract or two with the Senators and some serious longevity, both in health and continued high-level performance.
As an aside, isn’t it interesting how every player in the current top five left the Senators under various contentious circumstances?
Fans hope Brady Tkachuk can be the one guy in the group who’s a Senator for life.
