Ex-Flyers Defenseman On Fire With New Team

Former Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere re-joined the Carolina Hurricanes on a three-year, $9.6 million contract this off-season. This was after the 5-foot-11 defender posted 10 goals and 56 points in 81 games with the Detroit Red Wings in 2023-24.

So far, it’s a move that is benefitting the Hurricanes immensely, as Gostisbehere is playing magnificently. In his first nine games with the Canes, the 2012 third-round pick has four goals, nine points, and a plus-3 rating. The Flyers know very well that Gostisbehere can be a real offensive threat when he is playing at his best. In 381 games over seven seasons as a Flyer, he had 60 goals and 219 points. This includes his career-best season in 2017-18, where he had 13 goals and set career highs with 52 assists and 65 points in 78 games.
