Sabres Need New Forward To Heat Up Now
The Buffalo Sabres signed Sam Lafferty to a two-year, $4 million contract during this past off-season. This move made sense, as Lafferty is a solid bottom-six forward who plays a heavy game and can chip in a bit offensively when playing at his best.

Overall, Lafferty has provided solid energy to the Sabres’ bottom six so far this campaign, posting 16 hits in his first 11 games. However, he has struggled offensively out of the gate, as he has yet to record his first point as a Sabre.
When looking at Lafferty’s past success, there is clear reason to believe that he can turn things around offensively. Just last season with the Vancouver Canucks, he had 13 goals and 24 points in 79 games. This was after he had 12 goals and 27 points in 70 games split between the Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs in 2022-23.
If Lafferty gets his offense going while maintaining his physicality and solid defensive play, he could blossom into a key piece of the Sabres’ forward group moving forward. We will need to wait and see if he can break the ice from here.
