Airport delays LIVE: Gatwick flights suffer fresh disruption as fog hits easyJet and other airline schedules

Thousands of holidaymakers are suffering fresh disruption on Monday as more flights are delayed and cancelled at Gatwick Airport.

Thick fog forced airlines to rip up schedules over the weekend, causing misery for travelers seeking to escape the winter gloom and see in the New Year abroad.

Nats, the UK’s main air traffic control provider, said air restrictions were in place on Sunday – the busiest day of the Christmas period – because of low visibility in airfields affected by fog.

EasyJet delayed or cancelled a number of flights due to the knock on impact of delays caused by the weather.

Disruption is continuing on Monday morning with the number of flights already delayed in the double digits.
