Ajeti fitness slammed as Celtic flop’s Gaziantep boss fires savage dressing-down
Celtic flop Albian Ajeti has been told by his Gaziantep boss if he doesn’t buck up his ideas fitness-wise, then he won’t even be offered the chance to make his debut.
The Swiss striker failed miserably at the Hoops across three years after moving from West Ham United for £5million in 2020. He was signed on a four-year deal but made just 48 appearances, scoring nine goals. Neil Lennon brought him to Glasgow but he failed to make his mark under the Irishman, or indeed Ange Postecoglou.
Ajeti was sent out on loan to Sturm Graz during the latter’s final season at the club, before Brendan Rodgers returned as boss and decided to rip up the 26-year-old’s contract. That allowed him to move to Turkish side Gaziantep on a free transfer – but life in south eastern Europe hasn’t been plain sailing.
Ajeti has yet to make his debut for the club, who currently sit bottom of the Super Lig after a 2-0 loss to Kayserispor on Saturday.
The Swiss forward was left out of the matchday squad altogether, with reports coming out of Turkey explaining that boss Marius Sumudica is unsatisfied with Ajeti’s fitness levels.
And when Sumudica was quizzed about Ajeti’s absence, he replied with a brutal forewarning for the ex-Hoops man.
He growled: “Whoever wants to put his heart on the field must make sacrifices. Those who are not ready or don’t want it can stay out. Because we don’t have time.”
