With Germany vs Scotland kicking-off Euro 2024 tonight, talkSPORT’s Scottish sensation, Alan Brazil, visited Virgin Radio to rate all things German and Scottish!

All 51 games of the tournament will be live across the talkSPORT network and, ahead of Scotland’s tricky opening match against the host nation in Munich, Alan joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar today (Friday 14th June) to have the final say on Germany vs Scotland “off the football field”.

All morning, Chris and co-host Vassos had been pairing Scotland’s finest cultural items against Germany’s, and they put them to the talkSPORT Breakfast host for his definitive opinion. Firstly, German Lederhosen up against the Scottish kilt: “Well, that’s a no-brainer. It’s not a question! That is a no brainer!” Alan said.

He added: “Did you know there’s four percent of our nation in Munich as we speak, 200,000?”

Chris replied: “And they’ve got one ticket between them!” to which the former footballer said: “I know, but we have lots of kilts. I’ve not even seen a set of lederhosen!”

Next was German lager against Scottish whiskey.

“No-brainer again!” Alan declared. “Scottish whiskey, around the world, German lager you get in Munich Dusseldorf, and that’s it.”

With Alan choosing the Highlands of Scotland over against the German Alps and bagpipes over the Oompah band, Chris questioned whether the former Scottish international might be the slightest bit biased. However, Alan did then choose Germany’s The Scorpions over Chris’ rendition of Big Country’s song, In a Big Country.

When it came down to Black Forest gateau versus shortbread though, there was only one winner. “At five-past-six in the morning, can you have a coffee with Black Forest gateau? No, you can’t. Can you have a packet of shortbread? Yes, you can!” he enthused.

Tonight’s game will be live on talkSPORT from 8pm and available to watch on ITV from 6:30pm. “There’s a lot of Germans that are worried about tonight,” the former Manchester United player told Chris. “Because Germany were struggling, they’ve picked up a wee bit. It’s the opening game. It’s probably the best time to play them, but I don’t kid myself, Chris, when I played against German sides, they’re solid, they are tough, they’re hard. They don’t like losing. Their mentality is unbelievable. So I think it’s really tough. And I think for us to get anything, we have to score first, and hopefully the crowd will turn against them.”

He continued: “I think we’ve only got 10,000 tickets, but we’ll have more than that in there. They’ll be dotted around, but officially, 10,000. There’ll be 30,000 outside. Don’t worry about that. But if we can stifle their crowd and get them whinging and get the moaning, somehow nick a goal, then it’s game on!”
