Albion Rrahmani to Rangers latest as fuming Rapid chief confirms offer for star

Rapid Bucharest president Viorel Moldovan says the club have thrown out a lowball offer for Rangers-linked striker Albion Rrahmani.

The Kosovo international has been heavily linked with a move to Ibrox this summer, with some reports suggesting that director of football recruitment Nils Koppen has held talks over a possible deal. Rrahmani set tongues wagging last week when eagle-eyed fans spotted that he had started to follow a Glasgow cafe on Instagram, while his agent follows Philippe Clement on the social media platform.

Rapid – who recently appointed Celtic legend Neil Lennon as their new manager – are in no rush to sell the 23-year-old, who they signed for a bargain £500k from Ballkani last year. But after netting 19 goals in his debut season for the Romanian club, Rrahmani has inevitably attracted interest from across Europe – with Clement reportedly leading the chase for his signature.

It’s said that Rapid will demand between £5-6million for their star man but supremo Moldovan has confirmed that they’ve booted out a bid from an unnamed team for the hotshot.

He told Prima Sport: “There is, at the moment, an offer for Rrahmani, which, from our point of view, is not at his level and value. I can’t say from whose side, however we want Rrahmani to continue with us. Moreover, he is under contract with the club, he is a very important player for us and we hope that he will help us to achieve our goals.

“It is not easy to manage such a moment, things can be tempting when you hear that you have offers, maybe for the better, but he is a balanced boy, an ok boy, I think we will still have him.”
