Anti-English moaning makes us look like a pathetic and poisoned wee nation
I am 100% Scottish but I cringe with embarrassment when all the anti-English voices are heard in relation to the English football team. The Scots moan about the English arrogance especially concerning the English media… utter nonsense!
Why shouldn’t the English media cheer on their boys. The English may still talk of their World Cup win in 1966 but what would have happened if Scotland had won the World Cup then? Would we still be discussing it? Of course we would!
What about the Scottish media? Remember how arrogant our media was going back to World Cup Argentina 1978. Our media told the world that we were going to win the competition when we were probably one of the worst sides in the competition. Our hypocrisy is staggering!
The anti-English attitudes when England participate in sport makes me feel that we can have a pathetic poisoned “wee nation” syndrome on these occasions! Totally embarrassing. No wonder the English laugh at us and remind us that we “get battered” by everyone.

ScotRail is latest in litany of Nationalist failures
It will surprise few that another SNP-nationalised venture, ScotRail, had to cancel services this week during the height of the summer season, because of a lack of drivers.
It is not the principle of public ownership that is wrong, it is the dead hand of the SNP in the background. As they have done with BiFab, Ferguson and much else, being somehow “Scottish” and different from the UK is most likely top of their agenda and serving the public comes a distant second.

We need common sense government at Holyrood
Predictably, some SNP senior figures are saying John Swinney must go, but just what will this achieve? Kate Forbes and Stephen Flynn are the choices but are just more of the same. The Conservatives went through several leaders in a short space of time and it did not work. What I believe is wrong is almost all SNP policies are of no interest or benefit to ordinary Scots and independence is a financial non-starter. We need a common sense government at Holyrood.

They thought Farage was funny but they aren’t laughing now
Like him or not, Nigel Farage is here to stay and was able in a matter of weeks to significantly influence the result of the general election. This will change and shape the political future of UK politics, which many will see as a refreshing. His pint-swilling antics and appeal to ordinary people are a real vote winner. I don’t see the old fuddy-duddy politicians laughing now.

So how exactly will Yvette stop the wave of small boats?
While Home Secretary Yvette Cooper dances around our asylum crisis, the boats keep coming. If the UK ever had a grace and favour policy that could be abused to high heaven, this is it.
Helped onshore by our Border Force, the refugees cruise up the gangplanks, never having to leave these shores. Words of wisdom from Sir Keir Starmer and Ms Cooper on the issue – that they will sort the problem, on the back of the abolition of Rishi Sunak‘s deportations-to-Rwanda scheme – become less believable by the day.
The refugee crisis has been a gravy train to riches for many defending lawyers. And with the Prime Minister having been a human rights lawyer, I think a lot of the Labour narrative surrounding this issue is window dressing.
