Home in Scotland is looking for new members to join our Board to contribute to the strategic direction to help with our mission to deliver high quality affordable housing in Scotland.
Home in Scotland is part of part of the Home Group, one of the UK’s largest providers of high-quality housing, integrated health and social care. In Scotland we manage over 5500 homes serving 12,500 customers.
As a member of our Home in Scotland Board, you’ll support, offer guidance and constructive challenge, ensuring our Board discharges its legal and regulatory responsibilities.
Your key responsibilities
- Set clear strategic direction and priorities for Home in Scotland.
- Monitor and review Home in Scotland’s progress and performance in accordance with our strategy and business plan.
- Contribute your personal and professional knowledge and expertise to Board discussions and decisions, ensuring that high standards of customer service are maintained.
- Promote and uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring the Board discharges its duties and complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure appropriate controls and risk management are in place.
- Maintain high standards of honesty and integrity, adhering at all times to our Board Members Code of Conduct.
You bring
- Knowledge or experience of social housing in Scotland, including its regulatory and policy environment.
- A strong sense of social purpose and empathy with Home Group’s mission, along with a passion for housing and communities, making a difference for our customers.
- Proven ability to work at a strategic level, think creatively, and challenge constructively.
- An understanding of the role of a Board Member, commitment to the highest standards of corporate governance, and the ability to build constructive working relationships with Board Members and colleagues.
- A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Excellent communication and networking skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively and represent Home Scotland externally.

What’s involved
- You ask you to commit 1-2 days per month to Home in Scotland Board meetings and activities.
- As a Board we meet 5-6 times per year, both virtual and in-person. Some meetings include site visits and engagement with our customers.
- The initial term of your appointment is for three years and may be renewed.
- The role is unpaid, however all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
- If you are successful, we’ll ask you for details of two referees
