Her family were “increasingly concerned” after she disappeared from the Bellesleyhill Avenue area of the town.

Cops scoured the area and said it was unusual for Anne not to be in touch with relatives.

They urged locals to come forward with information on Anne’s whereabouts.

Tragically, a woman’s body was discovered in the River Ayr earlier this afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Station Road after the tragic discovery.

The woman has yet to be formally identified, but Anne’s family have been informed.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

A report is also due to be made to the Procurator Fiscal.
