Body found in search for man who vanished from Scots town

A BODY has been found in the search for a man who vanished from a Scots town.

Brendan McGivern, 43, was last seen in the McDonald Crescent area of Blairgowrie and Rattray on June 20.

He was reported missing one week ago, on July 5.

Cops today confirmed a body was discovered near Allan Street in Blairgowrie in the search for the missing Scot.

Formal identification is yet to take place but Brendan’s family has been informed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.40pm on Friday, 12 July, 2024, the body of a man was found near Allan Street in Blairgowrie.

“Formal identification has still to take place but the family of 43-year-old Brendan McGivern, who was reported missing from the Rattray area on Friday, 5 July, have been made aware.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”

Residents were urged to check any gardens, outbuildings or sheds amid the search for Brendan.

When last seen, he was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a black Under Armour waterproof jacket, and black trainers.
