Boost for plans to build new town in central Scotland
Plans for more than 3,000 homes to create a new town in central Scotland are to “significantly accelerate” after a major investment deal.
The housebuilder Barratt Developments has taken an interest in the Durieshill project which has been led for almost two decades by Springfield Properties.
The 600-acre site, which lies to the south of Stirling, will be a mix of private and affordable homes.
Barratt has now committed itself to providing all the infrastructure for the development in exchange for portions of land and has also paid Springfield an initial £10 million for 34 acres.
That will include significant road upgrades, sewage works and improvements to the electrical supply.
The initial groundworks are expected to start towards the end of this year and forecast
