Buffalo Sabres Top Target Is Still Available
Although training camps around the NHL have started, some solid players have yet to sign contracts or professional tryouts. One of them just so happens to be a player the Buffalo Sabres have been connected to: Mark Giordano.

During an appearance on Sportsnet’s Flames Talk earlier this month, Giordano’s agent, Ritch Winter, shared that the Sabres are one of four teams that have spoken with the veteran defender. The other three teams that have expressed interest in Giordano are the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
With this, it is certainly possible that Giordano will find a new home soon. He has clarified that he plans to continue playing rather than retire. With the Sabres needing more defensive depth, it would nice if they ended up being the lucky team that lands him.
The Sabres could use a veteran like Giordano to help mentor their young defensemen like Owen Power, Bowen Byram, and Mattias Samuelsson. In addition, with how often injuries occur, having a depth defender with plenty of experience, like Giordano, could be beneficial for the Sabres.
Giordano, 40, appeared in 46 games last season with the Maple Leafs, recording three goals, six assists, 51 hits, and a plus-10 rating.
