College football scores, games, updates: Kansas State at BYU, Baylor at Colorado and more

Week 4 of the college football season features the start of conference play for many teams and it shouldn’t disappoint based off the slate of games.

Clemson got things started off with a thorough domination of conference rival NC State, going off for 45 points in the first half for an easy win that shows it’s right there in the mix with Miami at the top of the ACC.

The early games also featured some history making. James Madison scored more points in the first half against North Carolina than it ever had before in a wild 70-50 upset (UNC had also never allowed that many points in a half before Saturday). Later, Temple kicker Maddux Trujillo drilled a 64-yard field goal — the longest kick in 16 years and just one yard shy of Martin Gramatica’s record.

In the evening window, No. 18 Michigan toppled No. 11 USC in a way only the Wolverines could, essentially winning solely with their ground game. In another ranked-on-ranked matchup, No. 12 Utah held off No. 14 Oklahoma State for a Big 12 win despite Utes QB Cameron Rising sitting out another game.

Here are the winners and losers for college football’s Week 4.

Follow along below for the rest of the day’s action.

Live146 updates

  • TOUCHDOWN COLORADO!

Unreal! Shedeur Sanders finds LaJohntay Wester in the end zone on the final play of regulation!

  • Oh no, Will Sheppard dropped what likely would have been the tying TD pass from Shedeur Sanders.

He got behind the defender. Instead it’s incomplete. 2 seconds left. Ball at the Baylor 43

  • Colorado on the move

The Buffs have moved it into Baylor territory but they’ve used a lot of time.

It’s near midfield and there’s only 18 seconds left. CU is out of timeouts.

  • Touchdown Oklahoma

It’s too little too late, but Michael Hawkins led the Sooners down for a touchdown. The lead is still 10 though so that’ll do it.

  • Baylor misses FG

Baylor gets into field goal range but Isaiah Hankins misses from 45 yards out. That would have pretty much clinched it for the Bears.

It remains a one-score game, 31-24 with 2:16 to play.

  • Final: Miami 50, South Florida 15

Cam Ward finished with 404 yards passing, 3 TDs, 1 INT as Miami pulled away in the 2nd half.

  • Tennessee tacks on FG

The Vols are now up 16 after the turnover on downs results in clock wasting and a field goal.

There’s 3:35 left in this one.

  • Baylor takes the lead!

Sawyer Robertson drops a dime to Hal Presley for a 24-yard touchdown.

Baylor retakes the lead, 31-24, over Colorado. 5:43 to play

  • Oklahoma turns it over on downs

Well that’ll just about do it for the Sooners. Michael Hawkins sailed the fourth-down attempt over his receiver’s head and Oklahoma appears to be out of time.

  • Colorado drives it into Baylor territory but stalls out as Shedeur Sanders is sacked on 4th down.

    Baylor ball, tie game.

  • OU gets ball back down 13

The Sooners get the ball back after a defensive stand and will have it at their own 27-yard line. Hawkins showed some promise in moving the ball the last drive. We’ll see if he can rally Oklahoma back with just over 6 minutes left in the game.

  • Touchdown Oklahoma!

The Sooners finally find the end zone in the fourth quarter with Michael Hawkins at the helm. The backup QB finds Jovantae Barnes out of the backfield for a touchdown to cut into the Vols’ lead.

After a penalty, Oklahoma’s Tyler Keltner misses the extra point to keep it 22-9.

  • OU on the move

The Sooners are finally showing some positive momentum with Michael Hawkins in the game at quarterback. They’re now inside the red zone.

  • Colorado ties it!

Micah Welch scores on a 2-yard touchdown run and it’s a new ballgame in Boulde

Score was set up by an incredible catch from Travis Hunter.

    Colorado 24, Baylor 24, late 3rd

  • Final: Florida State 14, Cal 9

FSU gets its first win of the season. Cal takes its first loss of the season.

  • FSU gets the stop on 4th down and it looks like the Seminoles will get their first win of the season.

    Sigh of relief in Tallahassee.

  • Cal trying to rally on FSU

Florida State is leading 14-9 with 1:05 to go but Cal is driving.

Could FSU really fall to 0-4?

  • End of 3Q: Tennessee 22, Oklahoma 3

Not much in the way of offense in the third quarter in Norman. The Sooners offense is just anemic. They have 98 total yards with one quarter to go.

  • Back from halftime in Boulder, Colorado stuffs Baylor on 4th and 1 at the Colorado 41.

Big stop for the Buffs, who still trail 24-17.

  • Tennessee tacks on FG

The Vols have added another field goal, with Max Gilbert connecting on a 41-yarder. The Sooners are going to have to find some semblance of an offense to keep this thing close
