Dallas Dhu distillery in Moray Speyside will reopen as a working distillery and museum

DALLAS DHU DISTILLERY

1 The Dallas Dhu distillery will reopen as a working distillery after 40 years of closure, Historic Environment Scotland (HES) has announced.

The plan is to create a “living museum” of traditional distillery techniques, including visitor tours.

Aceo Distillers Company will manage distillery operations, while HES will retain guardianship of the site at Moray, Speyside, on behalf of Scottish ministers.

Dallas Dhu produced malt whisky for nearly a century until its closure in 1983, marking it as a casualty of the “whisky loch” overproduction.

It was handed over to the state a few years later and has remained closed as a working distillery since.
