Damian Lillard reportedly signs lifetime contract extension with Adidas
Fresh off winning the NBA Cup, Damian Lillard is joining an exclusive club. The Milwaukee Bucks point guard has agreed to a lifetime contract extension with Adidas, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
With the deal, Lillard becomes the fourth active NBA player with a lifetime shoe sponsorship, joining LeBron James and Kevin Durant, who hold lifetime deals with Nike, and Stephen Curry, whose lifetime deal with Under Armour includes his own Curry Brand.
Lillard has been with Adidas since he first joined the league in 2012. In 2014, he signed a 10-year deal reportedly worth up to $100 million. That deal expired this offseason, per Charania.
The eight-time All-Star has a signature shoe with Adidas, the “Adidas Dame.”
The veteran guard helped lead the Bucks to the NBA Cup in the event’s second year, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. It was a much-needed win for a Milwaukee team still figuring out how Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo and head coach Doc Rivers could fit together as a championship team.
Lillard is averaging 25.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists this season.
